An excerpt from the statement:
"This body of work comes from the generative places in between dualities where there is the possibility of new life appearing. Thresholds where one must find their own particular way with the gravity and the possibility of being alive in a body: between waking-life and dream-life, reality and fantasy, discipline and spontaneousness, wildness and domesticity, disruption and tradition, addiction and passion, desire and responsibility, disintegration and revitalization, this life and the next.
The imagery draws from dreams, myths, cultural history, unplanned painting, and detailed observation of the living world. Icons emerge which offer grace, choice, awe, non-human companionship and protective spirits for the journey towards the center point of one’s life (with all its spiraling paths, crossroads and third ways). Symmetrical wings and paired images become a symbolic language of how two halves, together, can make something both whole and wholly new between them. The same images repeat and iterate in different materials, twinning and twining together. Something is revealed with
each version, and something else entirely emerges when they are taken in together."
